Viator ? the leading resource for researching and booking more than 9,000 tours and activities in 800-plus destinations in more than 150 countries ? announced today that the company?s recently launched mobile travel apps have been named by Apple to the App Store Rewind 2011 list of the top five travel apps of the year for the U.S. App Store. The free Viator Tours and Activities for iPhone and iPod touch and the free Viator Ultimate Experience Guide for iPad launched in May of this year.
The App Store Rewind 2011 selections highlight Apple?s picks for the year?s top five iPhone and iPad apps and games in multiple categories, reflecting both editorial selections and top sellers of the year. Viator was among an elite group of top global companies to have two separate apps selected from among the universe of more than 500,000 iPhone apps and 140,000 iPad apps.
?We?re honored that Apple recognized our new iPhone and iPad travel apps as best-of-the-best this year,? said Ms. Barrie Seidenberg, president and CEO of Viator Inc. ?Providing travelers with on-the-go access to the best things to do in destinations around the world was a major initiative for Viator in 2011. This recognition lets us know we?ve delivered useful and exciting apps to Apple consumers, but we won?t rest there as we will continue to raise the bar with even more exciting mobile initiatives planned for Viator in 2012.?
Each app provides access to Viator?s worldwide selection of tours and activities ? everything from a Sydney Harbour New Year’s Eve Cocktail Cruise to a Private Viewing of the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums to tickets to a popular Broadway show. All of Viator?s activities are pre-screened for quality, value and service and validated by more than 300,000 traveler reviews and photos.
